What you told us
Thank you to the 53 members who took the season survey: 41 Cup players and 12 members who didn't play in the Cup. The committee has read every response.
The headline: the Hud Dean Cup is working. Players rated the overall experience 8.3 out of 10, and 37 of 40 said keep the weekend format. You were just as clear about what needs work:
Keep what works. The Cup weekend format stays.
Publish the rules early, and hold them. Qualifying paths and tees for every flight, set before the season starts.
Simplify the Safety Net. 19 of 33 players found it unclear or hadn't heard of it.
Open more ways to qualify. Weekday dates alongside Saturdays were the top request.
Tighten the Cup weekend. Earlier starts and better pace. Some rounds ran close to six hours.
Build team identity. Teams that carry over, clear colors and recognition for the whole winning side.
Make HMGA for every member. Better value, and events where every handicap feels welcome.

These seven will shape our planning with the club and new committee for 2027 and beyond.
Two committee seats are open: run by Oct 22
Two of the five HMGA Advisory Committee seats are up this year: the terms held by Rick Newberg and Ray Dowdle. Both are welcome to run again, and so is any HMGA member.
What the job is: the committee works with Troy and the club on the men's golf calendar, event formats, rules and fees, and helps run big events like the Hud Dean Cup. It meets monthly, plus before the big events. Seats elected this year run three years, through November 2029.
How to run: fill out the candidate form. It takes about 10 minutes: a short background (100 words), your vision for HMGA (150 words), your top three priorities and a photo. Your statement goes on the ballot and the HMGA site exactly as you write it.
Forms are due Thursday, October 22 at 11:59 pm MT. If you need to change something, submit again with the same email before the deadline and it replaces your earlier entry.
Updated timeline: Voting now runs October 23 to November 12.
How the vote works: Every HMGA member will have the ability to vote for up to two candidates, and the two with the most votes win. Ballots are private. Only the two vote counters see them, Stephen and Troy Persson as the independent counter, and no totals show while voting is open.
